Lydia's Book - Flow and Connect

This is not so much a 'book' as a fold-able artwork. I hope that once it has made the rounds it will end up in a frame on my wall!

'FLOW and CONNECT'
My hope for this book is that our ideas will connect.  I have laid down a pathway on the paper through which these ideas might flow (inspired by an app game I played the other day called 'flow').  I am also suggesting a colour scheme in an attempt to create some kind of unity (try to stick to the colours of the paper).  For those of you who heard me rattle on about 'choice and limitations' at the ECIS conference in Nice - you will know this is a bit of an obsession of mine.  I am not sure if you guys can be contained within these kind of boundaries???!!!  But thought I'd give it a go.

The photos below demonstrate the folding process.

I have made an entry to get the ball rolling - it is just a doodle inspired by the overall design of the 'book'.  I have used water soluble pencils and a white ball point pen - a new toy.

Have Fun!

Do It Yourself: Eric's Book

this is the back cover

this is the front cover
HOWDY!
DIYis Eric Saline's book

don't you just love it when you find some really cool materials? In this case, I found a billboard that had shed its months of adverts, and i just knew I could use all that old paper for something. So it's been on the back of my bike, cut into bits, set on fire, sanded, painted, etc. Now it's the covers of my book.

In this case, I used it for making the cover of my sketchbook for this rotation... well, actually, maybe it's not quite fitting to call it a book at this point... the idea with my contribution is that you need to make your pages, glue/ attach them somehow to previous pages. I intend to call attention to process with this book: i can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

I just ask that the contents fit inside the covers when folded, otherwise, go nuts!

PS the little blue cloud cutout can be used by others for stencil, or collage.

Petr's Book / First Entry

I love the aesthetics of early horror movies and of many things gory. This piece came up together fairly organically combining a beautifully strange visual from a takeaway outdated library book on Werewolves and a Supermarket poster advertising discounted pork. Some Photoshop & tracing paper in addition to give it a feel of being aged.

The theme for the book came along with it – imagine a book that most likely doesn’t exist; yet you’d love to have it on your bookshelf and design a cover for it! Here’s where the bookshelf on page one comes in – please, add your title on any of the plain spines!

Really hope you’ll have fun with it!

Welcome to the ECISketchers blog

Midori said it best in Jan. 2009 when starting the first ECISketchers group:

Curious to see other books-in-progress? Want a glimpse of what others are adding in your book? Have a change of address? Question for another participant? That's what this blog is for! Use it to...
  • post photos of your most recent additions to the sketchbooks
  • notify group members of address changes, or special instructions for your book
  • share ideas... network with the rest of the group...
Before you send your book off to the next participant, log onto our blog, introduce yourself to the group and post a photo of your finished artwork.
