Lydia's "Book" / Petr's Entry

I was very very curious and excited upon receiving Lydia's incredibleness ... and found it hard to figure out where to go with it as there seems to be little in common to the "entries". I liked Mary's elements of shells and conchs, which took me to slugs, i know a little disgusting, but i'm oddly attracted to these creatures, and so are my children every summer at our cottage, and here's the result ...

... Lydia, the creation travels home today!

  1. Only you could make slugs look beautiful. Not a big fan of them. I remember a camping trip in Belgium and my son waking up to a "shoefull" of slugs.

  2. I just received my book - thanks everyone, it is so interesting to see what you all did with it. Petr - I'm loving the slugs, what a fantastic addition, the composition and movement in your work reflects and balances other areas of the piece beautifully. I think the path that I drew at the beginning now seems like a sort of drain pipe that weaves it's way through a garden, underground, down to the beach and to some 'other worldly' places. Your slugs remind me of the second home we lived in when our kids were really young. It was a very old cottage with no foundations, if you looked through the floor boards there was just dirt beneath. At night if you had to use the bathroom, which was downstairs, you risked dreading on one of the many slugs that seemed to come out of nowhere to draw snail trail lines all over the living room floor - slugs between your toes at midnight is not an enjoyable experience, but fascinating creatures. Thanks, I'm glad I get to keep this one.

    1. ha, ha, ha - what a great story, i love this particular thing about images, how they create or remind you of stories and evoke things long gone, i'm really glad you like it.
